Loft and Lie Alteration Disclaimer
Golf clubs are cast or forged from a variety of metals. Clubs may be cast from stainless steel known by their composition names of 431, 17-4, or 15-5. These numbers refer to the hardness of each metal. Forged clubs are produced from a softer metal known as carbon steel. Clubs may also be made from more exotic metals such as beryllium copper, nickel, or similar types of material. Each individual club may have its own unique properties even though it will be cast from one of the above materials. Because of this, as a golf club is altered for loft and/or lie, there is a chance that the head may break unexpectedly. This may happen regardless of the type of machine being used or the experience of the person doing the bending. As a result, there can be no warranty stated or implied that a golf club being bent will be guaranteed against breakage. The person bending the clubs will practice common and tested bending practices at all times. The amount of bending to be done will be clearly stated. But, in the event of metal failure from the golf club, the facility and person altering the clubs cannot be held liable and responsible for any head breakage. No remuneration to the club owner or replacement of club head(s) is implied due to breakage. This is strictly due to the nature of the golf head manufacturing process and is no reflection upon the skills of the person bending the clubs.
Things To Remember on Repairs
- When a reshaft is to be done on a club with a broken shaft, please try to get the complete shaft that is broken or a club on either side of the club to be reshafted. For example, if you bring in a 6-iron to be reshafted due to breakage and do not have the whole shaft that was broken, get the 5-iron or 7-iron so the proper length can be known.
- There is no guarantee that a graphite shaft that is to be pulled from a club head will be reusable. Many times the heat and force needed to pull the shaft will destroy it.
- Some clubs (Ping, Callaway, TaylorMade, and some others) have special adaptors that are somewhat expensive and these will be added to the price of reshafting.
- On irons, especially the shorter irons, if the club is lengthened or shortened, the lie angle will change and may cause inaccuracy in your shots.
- Shafts broken off at the hosel or with less than 6" of shaft above the hosel is an extra charge. These have to be extracted with special tools and takes about 1/2 hour to do so.
- New shafts will be SPINED and FLOed if the customer desires. This may mean that the logo on a graphite shaft will not be directly on the top or bottom when the club is in the setup position. SPINING AND FLOing is a procedure that finds the most stable position of the shaft in relationship to the clubhead to give the most accurate shots.
- PLEASE allow at least 2 days for repairs, 3 days for bore thru reshafting or any time that a shaft must be pulled or installed in a bore thru type head. If you insist that it be RUSHED, this may be done with an extra charge to be determined. Many times it may be impossible. Epoxy used for reshafting and some other repairs needs to cure for 24 hours.
