Club Fitting
Mulligan's can help you maximize your investment in golf clubs by providing personalized club-fitting services. General club fitting is offered at no charge with the purchase of your golf clubs from our Pro Shop. This process includes professional fitting for correct length and lie of your clubs, as well as material and flex of shafts.
Still unsure about what clubs might be right for your game? Mulligan's also offers a supplemental fitting option using SWING LABS SOFTWARE. Swing Labs is a computerized golf club selection service that pairs you the player with the proper golf club type, club loft in regard to the woods, shaft type and flex, and even the right golf ball make and model for your game.
Swing Labs Software version 3.5 provides objective robotic and player testing data for nearly all golf club manufacturers and brands. Data from your golf swing will be collected by the Vector Pro Launch Monitor. Vector Pro is one of the most precise instruments in ball launch technology and is recognized for its accuracy by all the major manufacturers such as PING, TaylorMade, and Callaway. By using Vector Pro, golfers can immediately see data that shows the effect of even the slightest changes in grip, swing and stance. This information is then used to recommend the optimum combination of equipment based on your unique dynamic launch data.
General Club Fitting
With golf club prices these days, if you are going to invest in a new set, it is important that you acquire a set that fits your needs. That is why Mulligan's Staff takes extra special care in getting you the right set of clubs. After gathering the information from us on what kind of club may be best for your game and utilizing our wide selection of demo clubs, we offer a free club fitting if you decide to purchase your clubs with us. This fitting will be provided by one of our trained professionals and may include fitting for the following:
- Correct length of the golf club
- Lie of the golf club
- Shaft material (graphite or steel)
- Shaft flex (stiff, regular, senior, etc.)
- Grip size
Getting this information correct can often provide dramatic results in your game. If you're hitting a club that's too short, you may find yourself hitting low line-drives. If you're hitting a club that's too long, you may catch the majority of your shots "heavy" or "fat." Having the right shaft flex and material that match your swing speed can make a difference on the spin, trajectory, and distance of your shots. Below is an explanation of the "lie" of the golf club, which can make a difference as well.
So if you're looking to improve your game with a new set of irons or woods (most fittings apply to irons), come on in and get the right club specifications for your swing. Again, a fitting with the purchase of your clubs is on us. Specially ordered clubs usually takes 7-10 business days to arrive provided the clubs are in stock, but often arrive sooner. Contact our pro shop for more information.
What is the LIE of a club?
The lie angle of a clubhead is an important characteristic that can either help or hurt accuracy, especially in the shorter irons. What is lie angle? It's the angle between the center line of the hosel and an imaginary line running along the bottom of the club.
When the clubhead meets the ball, the sole of the club needs to be parallel to the ground. If it is and the ball is hit square to the target, it will go straight every time. But if the toe of the club is pointing up so that the sole meets the ground toward the heel this will tend to cause the ball to go to the left. This club is too upright for the swing. If the sole contacts the ground toward the toe then this club is too flat for the swing (see drawing).

A: Not always. Due to the launch, spin and ball flight characteristics, you may find Swing Labs will produce a result that is not what you expect. Q: Will I be provided with shaft upgrade recommendations?
A: Yes. Swing Labs can provide you with a list of high performance shaft upgrades for the suggested clubs.
Q: How will I actually be "fit" for the club selections?
A: There are different answers to this question. First, if you are being fit for a driver, loft, shaft type and flex have been determined. The next factors to be fit are the club length and the proper grip size. When it comes to fitting the iron sets there are more factors to be considered and you will go through a dynamic fit. Club type, shaft flex and type are already selected. What is left to determine is club length and club lie. Also in the dynamic fitting process you will achieve proper grip type and size along with creating the proper set make up. This dynamic fitting process will take what Swing Labs has selected, and make it fit perfectly to your game.
Q: How does the golf ball suggestions work?
A: The data that is captured by the Accusport Launch Monitor is based on launch angle, spin rate and golf ball speed. These factors need to be optimized in order to gain maximum advantage from the golf club. In the selection process of the club type, Swing Labs also prepares a selection of golf balls that properly match that club selection. By pairing these essential factors maximum performance can be achieved.
Q: Can I demo the suggested clubs?
A: We work hard to have as many demo clubs in stock as possible. Due to this, we usually have demo clubs for the selections made from Swing Labs. You can select your demos, sign them out take them for demo. Once you have validated your fitting, return the demos and purchase your new equipment.
Q: How can I schedule a fitting?
A: Contact us and ask to schedule a Swing Labs fitting with one of our trained professional staff. You will then be well on your way to making your game better!
